The Pleasant Grove Spartans entered their tilt with the Jasper Vikings with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Pleasant Grove breezed by Jasper at home to the tune of 55-0. The result was nothing new for Pleasant Grove, who have now won six contests by 25 points or more so far this season.
Pleasant Grove got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Eric Handley out in front who threw for 304 yards and five touchdowns while completing 87.5% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Clarence Taylor, who picked up 168 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
Pleasant Grove's win was their sixth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.7 points per game. As for Jasper, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-8.
Pleasant Grove will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lawrence County at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. As for Jasper, they will head out on the road to face off against Homewood at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd.
