The Bothell Cougars will take on the Newport - Bellevue Knights at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Bothell has three straight wins, Newport - Bellevue has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Wednesday, Bothell beat Woodinville 9-6.
Addison Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Kolbi Schmer was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cheyenne Moore, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Bothell lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Newport - Bellevue fell victim to Skyline and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 10-0 to the Spartans.
Newport - Bellevue saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grace Wang, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
Bothell's victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Newport - Bellevue, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Bothell has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Newport - Bellevue struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Bothell's way against Newport - Bellevue in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Bothell made off with a 14-8 win. Will the Cougars repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
