The Westwood Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Sebastian River, falling 64-15. Westwood was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 48-9.
When it comes to explaining why Westwood lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jihla Greer. Despite the final result, she scored nine points.
Sebastian River was led to victory by Daphne Gibson and Isabella Bowen. Gibson scored 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals, while Bowen scored 17 points along with five rebounds. That's the first time this season that Bowen scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of E?mani Pryor, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Westwood's defeat dropped their record down to 2-10. As for Sebastian River, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westwood will take on Lincoln Park Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Park Academy will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Sebastian River, Sebastian River and Space Coast will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Space Coast is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
