After four games on the road, Pecos is heading back home. They will take on the Greenwood Rangers at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Pecos will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1544th, while the Rangers are ranked 470th).
Last Friday, Pecos had to suffer through a rough 72-42 loss at the hands of the Mustangs.
Meanwhile, Greenwood had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They had just enough and edged Seminole out 55-52.
Greenwood got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kevin Prieto out in front who scored 12 points. Tatum Pierce was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Pecos' defeat was their 12th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 3-19. As for Greenwood, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 19-11 record this season.
Pecos took a serious blow against the Rangers in their previous meeting back in January, falling 98-53. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pierce, who scored 30 points. Now that Pecos knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
