Moore Haven and LaBelle are an even 3-3 against one another since February of 2015, but likely not for long. The Terriers will head out to square off against the Cowboys/Cowgirls at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Moore Haven is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Moore Haven will bounce into Wednesday's contest after beating Vero Beach, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Terriers were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over the Indians on Friday. The Terriers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.
Charisma Micco spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, Preslynn Baker was incredible, firing off two home runs, four RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Khloe Desroche, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.
Baker wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Moore Haven lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
LaBelle not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 11th. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Clewiston a 15-0 shutout. The Cowboys/Cowgirls haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
LaBelle let Amaiah Meyer and Brooke Black run wild. Meyer scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4, while Black scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Black also put up an RBI, which was her first of the season. Nevaeh Crumb was another key player, scoring a run.
Moore Haven's record now sits at 9-4. As for LaBelle, their record is now 7-9.
LaBelle's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Moore Haven has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for LaBelle, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.6 strikeouts. Will Moore Haven keep running through batters, or will the Cowboys/Cowgirls buck the trend?
Moore Haven was able to grind out a solid victory over LaBelle in their previous meeting back in February, winning 11-8. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Terriers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
