Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Academy Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

If Victory Christian Academy was riding high fresh off their 56-33 takedown of Ridgeview Global Studies Academy last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Victory Christian Academy Storm fell 57-45 to the George Jenkins Eagles on Friday. The Storm have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Victory Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Jade Grier, who went 5 for 12 on her way to 22 points and eight rebounds. Those 22 points gave Grier a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Silva, who posted six points.

Even though they lost, Victory Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

George Jenkins' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Zakharia Rutledge led the charge by going 6 of 12 on her way to 16 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Victory Christian Academy's defeat ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-7. As for George Jenkins, they pushed their record up to 10-5 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
