The Blount Leopards suffered their closest loss yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Murphy by a score of 39-36. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Blount has scored all season.
Murphy found their leader in underclassman Kinley Simmons, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Cordairus Dixon, who scored ten points along with two steals.
Blount has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season. As for Murphy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-7.
Blount will head out on the road to take on Saraland at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saraland has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for Murphy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against McGill-Toolen at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. McGill-Toolen is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
