The team relied heavily on Kaden Ferguson, who scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Luke Saxe was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Pittsfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Augusta Southeastern might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was Beardstown who claimed the real prize. The Suns took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.
Augusta Southeastern saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Griffin Tippey, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. Tippey has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
Pittsfield's win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Augusta Southeastern, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
