The Cross Christian Academy Centurions are on the road again on Wednesday and plays the Olympus Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on February 7th. Cross Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine matchups -- so hopefully the Spartans like a good challenge.
Even though Shipley scored an imposing 57 points last Friday, Cross Christian Academy still came out on top. Cross Christian Academy slipped by the 58-57. Given Cross Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 19th in Delaware, while the are ranked 400th in Pennsylvania), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cross Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier Brewington, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brewington has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dontarius Jones, who scored 19 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Olympus, who are still winless after their fourth matchup. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Life Center Academy on Friday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Cross Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. As for Olympus, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.
Everything came up roses for Cross Christian Academy against the Spartans when the teams last played back in October of 2023 as the team secured a 77-43 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cross Christian Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
