Despite their defeat, Plainview saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Marya Southerland, who scored eight points along with two steals, was perhaps the best of all. Southerland is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jacelyn Hammon, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Lone Grove has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-5 record this season. As for Plainview, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.
Lone Grove lost to Plainview at home by a decisive 56-38 margin in their previous meeting two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hammon, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five steals.
