Frederica Academy will head out on the road to face off against the Valwood Valiants at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Frederica Academy sitting on three straight victories and Valwood on six.
With a playoff game on the line, Frederica Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 51-28 margin over the Eagles.
Jordan Triplett continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 350 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 11.7 yards per carry, and also throwing for 62 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Triplett has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Rico Holmes, who gained 120 total yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Valwood put the finishing touches on their ninth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Southland Academy 35-13.
It was another big night for De'mar Riley, who rushed for 257 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 carries. Riley was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 55 yards.
With Frederica Academy's win and Terrell Academy's loss, both teams now sport identical 6-5 records.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Frederica Academy has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 329.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Valwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 298.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Frederica Academy came up short against Valwood in their previous matchup back in September of 2022, falling 32-21. Can Frederica Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
