The Lakota East Thunderhawks won the last time they faced the Lakota West Firebirds, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Lakota East came out on top against Lakota West by a score of 46-39.
Leading Lakota East to victory were Emma Fohl and Celina Blount. Fohl scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals, while Blount scored 11 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 blocks. Fohl is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Brooke Asher was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Lakota East has yet to lose a matchup on the road this season, leaving them with a 3-4 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Lakota West, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lakota East will challenge Hamilton at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hamilton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 591st, while Lakota East is ranked 154th). As for Lakota West, they will head out on the road to face off against Mason at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Mason focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Wednesday.
