The Berwick Bulldogs will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Hazleton Area Cougars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Berwick's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell to Crestwood 33-27.
Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought game, but Hazleton Area had to settle for a 24-21 defeat against Williamsport on Friday. Despite 177 more yards than Williamsport, Hazleton Area couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Riley Vangilst, who picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Zander Coleman was another key contributor, rushing for 17 yards and a touchdown.
Berwick's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-7. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Crestwood, Dallas, and Wilkes-Barre. As for Hazleton Area, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Berwick might still be hurting after the 20-0 defeat they got from Hazleton Area in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will Berwick have more luck at home instead of on the road?
