The Western Warriors will take on the Silverado Skyhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Western is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They blew past Doral Academy Red Rock 15-6. The high-scoring effort was just what the Warriors needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.
Edwin Moreno was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Western is 4-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 9-10 otherwise. Moreno was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.

Western was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Silverado had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three last Wednesday. They were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Bengals. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since February 29, 2024, but that streak is no more.
Silverado let Jayden Orphan and Preston Clark run wild. Orphan went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Clark got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one triple. Another player making a difference was Kanoa Wolfgang, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
Western moved to 13-11 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak. As for Silverado, their record now sits at 17-8.
Thursday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Western has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. However, it's not like Silverado struggles in that department as they've averaged .468. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
