Norwayne has gone a perfect 10-0 against Chippewa recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Bobcats will welcome the Chipps at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Norwayne's favor as the team sits on ten straight wins at home while Chippewa has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Norwayne barely beat Hillsdale the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Bobcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Falcons an 8-0 shutout on Friday. The Bobcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.
Abby Workman made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. Workman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Riley Gwinn, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Piper Moore was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Norwayne was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hillsdale only posted a batting average of .214.
Northwestern hit Chippewa with a eight-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Chipps came up short against the Huskies, falling 14-4.
Kyleigh Gartin made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Madi Ries, who earned one run and two stolen bases.
Norwayne's victory bumped their record up to 19-3. As for Chippewa, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-18.
Chippewa's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Norwayne has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Chippewa, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Norwayne keep running through batters, or will the Chipps buck the trend?
Norwayne got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April against Chippewa by a conclusive 13-2 score. Do the Bobcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Chipps turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
