Legacy Christian is 0-3 against the Saints since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Legacy Christian Grizzlies will head out on the road to challenge the Heartland Christian Saints at 6:00 p.m. Legacy Christian is no doubt hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Friday, Legacy Christian lost to the on the road by a decisive 50-36 margin.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nicolas Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. That was a full 58.3% of Legacy Christian's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Seth Harper, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Heartland Christian unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell just short of Suburban Christian by a score of 43-41.
Like Legacy Christian, Heartland Christian lost despite seeing results from several players. Landon Clemens led the charge by scoring 19 points along with five rebounds. Clemens is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Penticuff, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Legacy Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Heartland Christian, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-7.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Legacy Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 26.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Heartland Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Legacy Christian came up short against the Saints in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 54-41. Can Legacy Christian avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
