Baseball Recap: West Morris Central Drops Season-High Score on Morristown

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Morris Central). Everything went their way against the Morristown Colonials on Wednesday as they made off with an 11-3 victory. The Wolfpack not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 1st (when they won 10-0).

Kelly Morgan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jake Novello, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Matt Thomas, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

West Morris Central is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Morristown, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Morris Central will head out to challenge Montville at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Morristown, they will venture away from home to take on West Orange at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
