Basketball Recap: Guilderland Has No Trouble Against Ballston Spa

You're bound to get a positive result if you outscore your opponent every quarter, and that's exactly how it played out for Guilderland on Wednesday. They were the clear victor by a 61-37 margin over the Ballston Spa Scotties. The Flying Dutchmen have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.

Several Scotties players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mallory Sprissler, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds. That's the most boards Sprissler has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrey Kramer, who put up 13 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Guilderland and bumps their season record up to 10-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points over those games. As for Ballston Spa, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Guilderland will venture away from home to face off against Bethlehem Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Ballston Spa, they will face off against Columbia at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Columbia's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last eight matches.
