The Covington-Douglas Wildcats scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Pioneer-Pleasant Vale 71-40 at home. The result was nothing new for Covington-Douglas, who have now won four matches by 21 points or more so far this season.
Leading Covington-Douglas to victory were Ford Smith and Miguel Tarango. Smith scored 20 points along with eight rebounds, while Tarango scored 21 points along with five steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Smith has scored at least 25% of Covington-Douglas' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Derrek Daugherty, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds and four blocks.
Covington-Douglas' victory bumped their record up to 6-7. As for Pioneer-Pleasant Vale, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Covington-Douglas will head out on the road to face off against Cimarron at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pioneer-Pleasant Vale, they will be playing at home against Waukomis at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
