After a string of four wins, the Kings Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 45-44 to Milford. Kings was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Milford apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November.
Milford found their leader in underclassman Gabby Chadwell, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Cayden Smith, who scored seven points.
Kings' defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Milford, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kings will finish 2023 at home by hosting Sycamore at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sycamore will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 375th, while Kings is ranked 55th). As for Milford, they will play host again and welcome Harrison, where tip off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Harrison has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
