It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Whitko had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the South Adams Starfires 78-23. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.
Whitko's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jayma Stonebraker, who made all 5 shots she took for 14 points along with six assists and five steals. Stonebraker has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Braisha Harrison was another key player, going 5 for 9 to rack up 16 points and five steals.
Stonebraker wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Whitko was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Adams only posted five assists.
When it comes to explaining why South Adams lost, don't look at Laney Trausch. Despite the final result, she posted four points. Hadassah Mckinley also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
The win was the fifth in a row for Whitko, bringing their record for this year to 19-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points over those games.
