The Sam Rayburn Rebels will head out on the road to take on the Tom Bean Tomcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Sam Rayburn sitting on three straight wins and Tom Bean on four.
On Tuesday, Sam Rayburn earned a 7-2 victory over Honey Grove.
Jamison Dorris made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. Dorris was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Case Nichols was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
Tom Bean came out on top against Whitewright on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run second inning. The Tomcats put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Tomcats, who have now won 12 matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Dyson Farris, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Donnie Hooten, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Tom Bean was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Tom Bean pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Sam Rayburn, their record now sits at 14-7-1.
Sam Rayburn might still be hurting after the 16-3 defeat they got from Tom Bean in their previous matchup back in March. Can the Rebels avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
