D1 District 2 (8 Man) recap September 17, 2013
John Steffensmeier and Christopher Konicek provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Shelby-Rising City. The longest such play in D1 District 2 (8 Man) this season, the connection resulted in 79 yards.
Howells-Dodge's Ben Kuehn rumbled for the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Randolph last week. Kuehn's team topped the Cardinals as he sprinted for 72 yards on the play and finished with 161 in all.
Kuehn was the most successful running back in the league this week. Teammate Jesse Faltys added to the ground attack by rushing for 86 yards.
Maverick Sukstorf put up the best numbers in passing as Cedar Bluffs fell to Winnebago. He finished with 10 completions for 157 yards and 2 touchdowns. Sukstorf's favorite target this week was Austin Conklin, who caught 5 passes for 79 yards.
Zach Kuhr made the biggest impact on defense this week as Clarkson/Leigh defeated the Huskies. The 5-foot-7 senior.
Konicek was the best receiver in D1 District 2 (8 Man) this week as the Patriots beat Shelby-Rising City.
The Wildcats' Sukstorf and Conklin have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Sukstorf has thrown for 359 yards this season, while Conklin has 8 catches for 189 yards. Omaha Christian Academy's Dalton Daeges leads the league in rushing yards with 226.
Omaha Nation lost to Allen 59-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
