After a string of ten wins, the Kent Denver Sun Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 80-76 hit to the loss column at the hands of Colorado Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Saturday (74), Kent Denver still had to take the loss.
Kent Denver lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Clay Tierney, who scored 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Tierney has scored all season. Caleb Fay was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Kent Denver's loss dropped their record down to 12-2. As for Colorado Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kent Denver will face off against DSST: Green Valley Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. DSST: Green Valley Ranch is on a five-game streak of home wins, Kent Denver a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Colorado Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face The Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th. The Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 210th, while Colorado Academy is ranked 14th).
