The Murray Spartans will be playing at home against the Cottonwood Colts at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Summer Stewart was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (she also only allowed one walk). Stewart was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.
Stewart wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zaylee Winterhalder, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Cottonwood sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 win over Park City on Friday. The victory was just what Cottonwood needed coming off of an 11-1 loss in their prior matchup.
Like Murray, Cottonwood also got a great game from a two-way player: Gretta Lewis. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 12 hits. Lewis has been consistent recently: she hasn't pitched less than six innings in three consecutive pitching appearances. Lewis was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and a double.
In other batting news, James Wilking was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Tialer Mounts was another key contributor, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 1-for-3.
The win got Murray back to even at 5-5. As for Cottonwood, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Murray has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472.
