Softball Recap: Jamesville-DeWitt Comes Up Short

Jamesville-DeWitt extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 0-4 in the process. They lost 15-5 to the Saratoga Springs Blue Streaks. On the bright side, the five- run effort marked the Red Rams' highest-scoring game to date.

As for Saratoga Springs, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3. Considering they have won three matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

For Saratoga Springs' part, Kendra LeClair and Jackie Cutting made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, LeClair tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Cutting tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, LeClair went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Cutting fired off two home runs while going 3-for-4. Those home runs marked the first that Cutting has launched this season.

In other batting news, Saratoga Springs got a big performance out of Nia Law, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs. Those three runs gave Law a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Taber, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jamesville-DeWitt will host Oswego at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bucs' pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so the Red Rams' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Saratoga Springs, they will be playing at home against Albany at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.67 runs per game on average), something the Blue Streaks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
