Baseball Recap: Jourdanton's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Jourdanton entered their tilt with Devine on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Warhorses with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Indians/Squaws have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Warhorses, too.

Wyatt Avery made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Jourdanton let Caden Schulte and Kevin Garcia run wild. Schulte went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Garcia scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Garcia is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Braden Greigo was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Jourdanton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.2 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.4.

Jourdanton's record is now 9-4-1. As for Devine, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-9-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jourdanton will host Poteet at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Poteet has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.89 runs per game on average), something Jourdanton will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Devine, they will be playing at home against Somerset at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Devine's pitchers better be ready for this one: Somerset has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
