Softball Recap: Many Has No Trouble Against Franklin Parish

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Lakeside, Many was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Franklin Parish Patriots with a sharp 16-9 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Caylee Downs was a standout: she scored four runs while going 4-for-5. Another player making a difference was Rylee Gunter, who scored three runs while going 4-for-5.

Downs wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Many kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 23 hits. That's a new trend for Many: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.4.

Many has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. The loss snapped Franklin Parish's winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Many didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 15-0 defeat against Alexandria on the 14th. As for Franklin Parish, they have also already played their next contest, an 8-6 loss against Ouachita Parish on the 17th.
