Softball Recap: Kermit Wins Going Away Against Anthony

Kermit won the last time they faced Anthony and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Yellow Jackets put the hurt on the Wildcats with a sharp 25-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Yellow Jackets, who have now won 11 contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Aliha Saenz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Saenz was even better at the plate, scoring four runs while getting on base in all five of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Isabella Urquidi was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Mary Valenzuela, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and four RBI.

Kermit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .821. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Kermit pushed their record up to 11-10 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Anthony, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.

Coming up, Kermit will be playing in front of their home fans against Presidio at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.19 runs per game on average), something the Yellow Jackets will no doubt try to take advantage of. Anthony does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
