The Haverford Fords will venture away from home to take on the Harriton Rams at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Haverford is coming into the game hot, having won their last five games.
On Monday, Haverford beat Springfield 5-1.
Lucas Rothstein looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Haverford saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ryan Cassidy, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double. Another was Ben Ishmael, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Harriton was not the first on the board on April 2nd, but they got there more often. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over Springfield. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rams have posted since April 11, 2024.
Sam Bohnenkamp spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on three hits and racked up nine Ks. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Harriton is 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 0-3 otherwise.
At the plate, Cole Chodkowski was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.
Haverford's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Harriton, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-4.
Haverford's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's matchup. The Fords have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.9 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Harriton, though, as they've been averaging only 1.3 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Haverford continue to outrun the ball?
Haverford took their win against Harriton in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Fords since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
