Shelley had lost four games at home, but after bumping their record up to 15-7 on Wednesday that streak is in the rearview. Everything went their way against the Skyline Grizzlies as they made off with a 20-11 win. Considering the Russets have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Macie Winder was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 6.1 innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Shelley got a massive performance out of Vienna Oats, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits Oats has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Sarah Kidman, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, five runs, and one RBI.
Shelley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .486. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
As for Skyline, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-10-1 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the team, making it five in a row.
On Skyline's side, Bella Jensen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Dixee O'Haver also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
