There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. There's a new number one at the head of the rankings as well as a new caboose.
Can't Touch This
Pelahatchie's 42 - 14 win over Morton last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Javeious Purvis. Purvis earned three touchdowns and 175 yards rushing the ball. In fact, our algorithms singled out Purvis as one of the top players in the power rankings for the week.
This Week's Big Showdown
One of last week's main attractions was the confrontation between Madison Central and Clinton, 2nd and 4th in the power rankings, respectively. Madison Central enjoyed a cozy 35 - 20 win over Clinton. Madison Central's defense outmaneuvered the Clinton offensive line and got to the QB for four sacks.
No Stoppin 'Em
There were a lot of high-scoring contests in the power rankings last week, but the 96-point effort in this one put it right at the top of the list. Magee took its contest against Lanier by a conclusive 62 - 34 score. One major factor in the win was the play of sophomore Ross McInnis, who ran for 151 yards and also punched in five touchdowns.
