The Lanham Christian Lions can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 69-43 margin over Avalon. The victory was familiar territory for Lanham Christian who now have five in a row.
Lanham Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamar Payen led the charge by scoring 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Dakari Wilson, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Lanham Christian's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-3. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 26.9 points. As for Avalon, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lanham Christian will square off against Calverton at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lanham Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past nine contests -- so hopefully Calverton likes a good challenge. Avalon's road trip will continue as they head out to face Georgetown Day at 5:00 p.m. on February 9th. Avalon will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 229th in Maryland, while Georgetown Day is ranked 19th in District of Columbia).
