Two dominant guards in Jurnee Lattimore and Alex Helton are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The North Gaston Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Forestview Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Gaston is no doubt hoping to put an end to an eight-game streak of away losses.
While North Gaston couldn't quite beat the Storm on Tuesday, the three-point margin was a huge improvement compared to the 24-point defeat they were dealt on Friday. North Gaston fell just short of the Storm by a score of 57-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat North Gaston has suffered since December 1, 2023.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jalen Howard, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lattimore, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Forestview pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were dealt a 92-59 loss at the hands of South Point. Forestview was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 56-32.
North Gaston has been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Forestview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-12.
North Gaston ended up a good deal behind the Jaguars in their previous meeting back in January, losing 60-46. Can North Gaston avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
