MENDENHALL, Miss. -
Mendenhall (Miss.) jumped out to an early lead against
Purvis (Miss.) and never looked back on the way to a 31-20 victory on Saturday.
The Tigers scored seven points in the first quarter. Mendenhall scored on a touchdown run by
Khadarel Hodge.
MHS was up 24-6 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown run by Hodge in the first quarter.
The Tigers saw their 18-point halftime lead fall to 11 entering the fourth.
Markell Pack made a difference for the Tornadoes. The junior wide receiver ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 10 touchdowns on the season.
Hodge played well for Mendenhall in the victory. The senior quarterback ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored 26 touchdowns on the season.
The loss comes after Purvis defeated Lawrence County 48-7 last week. With the win MHS extended its winning streak to four games. The loss snapped Purvis' 2-game winning streak.
