Last Tuesday, Doniphan-Trumbull was able to grind out a solid win over Holdrege, taking the game 60-50. Given Doniphan-Trumbull's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while Holdrege is ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Doniphan-Trumbull relied on the efforts of Parker Volk, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds, and Jaden Williams, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Williams has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaedan Detamore, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Wood River lost to Minden on the road by a decisive 63-45 margin on Thursday. Wood River has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Doniphan-Trumbull pushed their record up to 17-1 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Wood River, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-8.
Doniphan-Trumbull skirted past Wood River 56-53 in their previous matchup on Saturday. Does Doniphan-Trumbull have another victory up their sleeve, or will Wood River turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
