The South Johnston Trojans will be playing in front of their home fans against the West Johnston Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Johnston will be strutting in after a victory while West Johnston will be coming in after a loss.
Last Monday, South Johnston got the win against East Wake by a conclusive 31-8.
South Johnston's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Riley Adams, who threw for 164 yards and a touchdown on only 15 passes. South Johnston also got help from Kalib Brown who showed off his sure hands for 91 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was South Johnston's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Kelvin Fitts and Jaekob Robinson who racked up four sacks between them.
Meanwhile, West Johnston fell victim to Hunt's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They had to suffer through a rough 35-0 loss at the hands of the Warriors. West Johnston has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
South Johnston now has a winning record of 5-4. As for West Johnston, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.
South Johnston was able to grind out a solid victory over West Johnston in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, winning 14-7. Does South Johnston have another victory up their sleeve, or will West Johnston turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
