Montgomery County and Emanuel County Institute are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2018, but not for long. The Montgomery County Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Emanuel County Institute Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Montgomery County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Montgomery County didn't have too much trouble with Claxton on the road as they won 61-44. Montgomery County pushed the score to 49-28 by the end of the third, a deficit Claxton cut but never quite recovered from.
Amire Banks and Marley Bell were among the main playmakers for Montgomery County as the former scored 19 points along with six assists and six steals and the latter dropped a double-double on 20 points and 15 rebounds. Bell is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season. Erin Adams was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Emanuel County Institute's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their eighth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to Portal.
The win makes it two in a row for Montgomery County and bumps their season record up to 21-1. As for Emanuel County Institute, they dropped their record down to 1-15 with that loss, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Montgomery County didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Emanuel County Institute in their previous meeting back in January, but they still walked away with a 52-46 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Montgomery County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
