The Buckeye Hawks waltzed into their matchup on Monday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They walked away with a 45-36 win over Washington. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Buckeye also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Isabel Ramirez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kiria Avila escarcega, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and seven assists.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Channel Ochoa, who scored 11 points. Ilana Bread was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Buckeye is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 14-7 record this season. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Buckeye will be playing in front of their home fans against Kofa at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Kofa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arizona Rankings (they are ranked 218th, while Buckeye is ranked 79th). As for Washington, they will head out on the road to take on Youngker at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Youngker focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 38 on Monday.
