After two games on the road, James River HomeSchool is heading back home. They will take on the Grove Christian School Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Saturday, James River HomeSchool strolled past Spirit HomeSchool with points to spare, taking the game 66-50.
Matthew Thomas was his usual excellent self, scoring 31 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Samuel Mitchell, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Grove Christian School's game last Monday was all tied up 28-28 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell 75-63 to Denbigh Baptist Christian.
Despite the loss, Grove Christian School had strong showings from Jacob Garrison, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine assists, and Owen Collawn, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Garrison has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last nine times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Braxton Kidd, who scored ten points along with two steals.
James River HomeSchool has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Grove Christian School, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: James River HomeSchool have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 24.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Grove Christian School struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
James River HomeSchool took their win against Grove Christian School in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 68-44. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Garrison, who scored 23 points along with six assists and four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will James River HomeSchool still be able to contain Garrison? There's only one way to find out.
