Baseball Recap: Triton's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Triton got themselves on the board against Oregon-Davis on Monday, but Oregon-Davis never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 20-0 margin over the Bobcats. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Isaiah Vaca was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

In other pitching news, Blake Ousley looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up a single hit in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Triton got a massive performance out of Max Johnson, who went 2-for-5 with four runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. The Trojans are undefeated when Johnson posts two or more runs, but 5-6 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Dennie, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Triton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are 5-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory (which was Triton's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Oregon-Davis, they are on a 19-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Coming up, Triton will host Bremen at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lions have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season. As for Oregon-Davis, they will head out to square off against Caston at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
