Valentine had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against Cozad by a score of 31-22. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Valentine also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Valentine's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kinsey Buechle, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 blocks. That makes it five consecutive games in which Buechle has scored at least 25% of Valentine's points. Another player making a difference was Paige Sprenger, who scored 10 points along with 7 steals.
Valentine has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 4-1 record. As for Cozad, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.
Valentine will head out on the road to face off against Ainsworth at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Ainsworth focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Friday. As for Cozad, they will be playing at home against McCook at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McCook and Cozad are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
