The Willow Glen Rams will square off against the Live Oak Acorns at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Live Oak will square off against a team with plenty of momentum: Willow Glen extended their winning streak to five on Friday. The Rams never let Ann Sobrato get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory.
Kayla Valtscheff and Alanna Clincy were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Valtscheff pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Clincy kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Valtscheff has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. At the plate, Valtscheff went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI, while Clincy went 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. That's the most hits Clincy has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Catalina Medina was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Sandoval, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Willow Glen was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .483. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Live Oak). They blew past Santa Teresa 14-6 on Friday.
Live Oak let Kayla Tulowitzki and Quinn Dana- Hulberg run wild. Tulowitzki went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Dana- Hulberg got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Peyton Goularte was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Willow Glen's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Live Oak, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.
Willow Glen came out on top in a nail-biter against Live Oak in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-0. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Acorns have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
