While Pineville might've come up empty on Tuesday, Rachel Howard wasn't going down without a fight. Howard turned in nothing short of a gem, striking out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and 14 unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

Even though Howard couldn't lead Pineville over Harlan, she won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sadly, Howard's big day wasn't enough to stop the loss, which snapped the Mountain Lions' seven-game streak of wins at home. With the streak broken, Howard and the Mountain Lions surely have a bit of extra motivation heading into Tuesday's match.
