The Lemon Bay Manta Rays's four-game losing streak came to an end on Monday. They blew past Hardee 49-29. That 49-29 margin sets a new team best for Lemon Bay this season.
Lemon Bay can attribute much of their success to Lucas Newcomb, who scored 25 points along with six rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Newcomb has scored at least 25% of Lemon Bay's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Benedict, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Loss or not, Hardee got some senior leadership from Phoenix Romeo who scored 11 points and Shawn St. Louis who scored nine points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points St. Louis has scored all season.
Lemon Bay's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Hardee, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Lemon Bay will head out on the road to face off against North Port at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully North Port focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Monday. Hardee won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lake Placid at 7:30 p.m. on December 12th. One thing working in Lake Placid's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three games.
