The Altamonte Christian Eagles and the Orangewood Christian Rams will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Orangewood Christian took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Altamonte Christian, who comes in off a win.
Even though Winthrop College Prep Academy scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, Altamonte Christian still came out on top. Altamonte Christian took their contest against Winthrop College Prep Academy 65-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Altamonte Christian.
Altamonte Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marcus Goss Jr., who scored 18 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Goss Jr. has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Almeda, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Orangewood Christian's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a rough 70-44 loss at the hands of Foundation Academy. While losing is never fun, Orangewood Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 627th, while Foundation Academy is ranked 178th).
Altamonte Christian has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. As for Orangewood Christian, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Altamonte Christian beat Orangewood Christian 77-68 in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Altamonte Christian since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
