The Edgerton Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Hicksville Aces at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Edgerton's pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so Hicksville's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Edgerton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 20-run drubbing they dealt North Central on Monday. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 20-0 victory. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by eight runs or more this season.
Olivia Wallace was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Wallace was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Corinne Cape and Peytyn Baker did most of the damage at the plate: Cape scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Baker went a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Casey Everetts, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Edgerton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Central only posted a batting average of .111.
Meanwhile, Hicksville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-3 heartbreaker at the hands of Eastside. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Aces have suffered since April 5, 2024.
Hicksville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kennedy Adams, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two runs. That home run was Adams' first of the season.
Edgerton's record now sits at 7-2. As for Hicksville, they now have a losing record of 4-5.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Edgerton hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Hicksville struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
