For the second straight game, Wink will face off against Forsan. The Wildcats will take on the Buffaloes at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wink is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Friday just wasn't the day for Wink's offense. They lost 10-0 to Forsan on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 19 runs in the game before, the Wildcats' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
For Forsan's part, Makayla Garza was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave Garza a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Forsan got a massive performance out of Ary'Anna Mealing, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Mealing has been hot, having posted three or more hits the last five times she's played. Audrey Kinsey was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Forsan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .514 or higher in seven consecutive matchups.
Forsan has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Wink, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Wink has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .468. However, it's not like Forsan struggles in that department as they've averaged .502. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
