The Little Axe Indians will head out on the road to challenge the Lexington Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Little Axe easily dispatched Star-Spencer on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Indians fell just short of Del City by a score of 13-11 on Thursday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Monday (ten), the Indians still had to take the loss.

Lane Foreman stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he went 3-for-5 with two triples, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Little Axe's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 2-1 (and 3-9 when he doesn't). Kelin Sanders also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Meanwhile, Lexington had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over Wayne. Considering Lexington has won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Colby Haynes was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had over his last two games. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Buddy Cormany, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Gavrie Williams, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Lexington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wayne only posted an OBP of .300.
Lexington's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-15. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Little Axe, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.
Lexington's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Little Axe hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .359. It's a different story for Lexington, though, as they've only averaged .231. Will they be able to contain Little Axe's hitters?
Little Axe suffered a grim 16-0 defeat to Lexington when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
