The Tri County Area Vikings fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Chippewa Hills Warriors on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell to the Warriors 75-70. Despite running the score up even higher than they did on Tuesday (56), Tri County Area still had to take the loss.
Despite the loss, Tri County Area still got an impressive performance from Gavin Rykse, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Connor Henry, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Even though they lost, Tri County Area were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Tri County Area's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-6. As for Chippewa Hills, their victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-4.
Tri County Area will be home for the holidays to greet Central Montcalm at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central Montcalm is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. As for Chippewa Hills, they will head out on the road to face off against Reed City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Reed City presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Chippewa Hills in Michigan (Reed City is ranked 145th, while Chippewa Hills is ranked 519th).
